About this event
A woman’s voice rises from deep sorrow, singing: ‘Oh, sing for him, God’s little songbirds / Since his mother cannot find him.’ In 1976, Henryk Górecki wrote his Symphony No. 3 in Communist Poland as a response to suffering and as an expression of hope. Known as the 'Symphony of Sorrowful Songs', he never expected it to become a global phenomenon, finding listeners across the world. Tonight, it is performed by award-winning Polish soprano Iwona Sobotka.
