Carl Davis conducts his own scores for two gems of Hollywood's silent era.

A night at the opera sets in motion a tale of espionage and romance in The Mysterious Lady. Greta Garbo, the lady of the title, is Tania Fedorova, a Russian spy who falls for an Austrian soldier. When the secret military plans he is carrying are stolen he suspects her - can she convince him that she really loves him?

Less than ten minutes of The Divine Woman survive - a single reel was unearthed in a Russian archive in 1993. Garbo plays Marianne, a young actress in 1860s Paris who must choose between the love of a young soldier and the attentions of a wealthy impresario.
