Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra
Elisa Citterio violin & director
Karina Gauvin soprano

One of the world's foremost Baroque ensembles remind us that this music is - consummately - about emotion, with a programme of Handel and Vivaldi aimed straight at the heart.

Under the imaginative direction of Elisa Citterio, the Toronto-based Tafelmusik have built a global reputation for their inimitable flair. They begin with a programme devoted to their instrumental music of the two great composers at their most unashamedly ardent and flamboyant. And then they're joined by soprano Karina Gauvin - praised by Gramophone for her 'poise, grace and spirit' - for a sequence of great operatic arias contrasting love with betrayal, including numbers from Agrippina and Ottone in Villa and the heartrending 'Scherza infida'.
