Lukas Sternath plays Beethoven

Two centuries after his death, Ludwig van Beethoven’s music still feels bold, vibrant and full of life. In this concert, the London Philharmonic Orchestra performs Unsuk Chin’s tribute to Beethoven, before rising pianist Lukas Sternath performs Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto. 

Then, guest conductor Nikolai Szeps-Znaider conducts Tchaikovsky’s ‘Pathétique’ Symphony, but don’t be misled by the name – it means ‘full of feeling’.  From moments of joy to heartbreak, Tchaikovsky’s final symphony is deeply personal and packed with melodies you’ll remember long after the concert ends.
