About this event
Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony needs little introduction – widely recognised as one of the turning points of Western music for its innovative form and sweep.
George Onslow’s Symphony no 1, on the other hand, is a neglected gem from a cosmopolitan composer of English and French parentage who was also popular in Germany. Onslow stood out during his lifetime (1784–1853) for preferring to write for instruments instead while his contemporaries were composing operas, and the result is music of crisp melodic charm.

Why not visit the RCM Museum and explore one of the richest collections of music-related objects in Europe, including the earliest known guitar and the earliest stringed keyboard instrument. Last entry to the RCM Museum will be at 5.15pm.
