Celebrate the golden age of the big band with this swinging programme!
Directed by Jon Stokes, the RCM Jazz Orchestra pays tribute to the pioneering bandleaders, arrangers and musicians who shaped the big band explosion of the 1930s and ’40s – and to the innovators who keep the tradition alive today.
These outstanding young musicians take you from the rhythmic groove of Count Basie and the sophisticated sound of Duke Ellington to more recent voices such as Wynton Marsalis and Maria Schneider.
