Music by Janáček and Mozart to thrill and delight, and Ben Goldscheider premieres a brand-new horn concerto from one of Sweden’s most enchanting musical minds.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Symphony No. 30, 'Prague'
When Mozart wrote his “Prague” symphony, he was on a mission to entertain, and he poured every ounce of fantasy and skill into a symphony that still sounds brand new. Janáček was even more upfront: his Taras Bulba turns bloody medieval history into music as visceral, and as gripping, as a slasher flick. The voltage should be off the scale in this concert from Sakari Oramo and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
In between comes a different kind of wonder – a Norse saga with a Czech accent, and something wholly new by one of Sweden’s most admired composers. “A musical journey through many different and often unexpected landscapes of sound” is how Britta Byström describes her new Horn Concerto, and with the playing of Ben Goldscheider to inspire her, the result should be magical.
