Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben

Richard Strauss's Ein Heldenleben (‘A Hero's Life’) is a playful musical self-portrait, with the composer casting himself as the hero. It's funny, dramatic and packed with some of Strauss's most dazzling orchestral music. Conductor Robin Ticciati leads an expanded LPO in this spectacular work. 

Sibelius evokes the Middle Ages, and the superb Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang (‘Inspired’ – The Strad) dances her way through Weimar Berlin in Hindemith’s sardonic Kammermusik – written (he said) to celebrate the birthday of a lion.
