Haydn: The Creation
Streatham Choral and the Brandenburg Sinfonia bring the brilliance of Haydn’s The Creation to Cadogan Hall, directed by Calum Fraser.
Impressed and inspired by Handel’s great oratorios which he heard during visits to London, Haydn said, “I was struck as if I had been put back a hundred years in my art.”
The resulting 1798 masterpiece bursts with vivid orchestral colour, soaring choruses, and movements of awe and wonder, as it celebrates the dawn of light and life in the story of Genesis.
Praised for performances of “enormous feeling” and “agile and accurate singing”, this dynamic South London choir of over 160 voices has previously sold out Cadogan Hall with performances of Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Requiem.
Streatham Choral brings its trademark energy and reputation for vibrant, uplifting music-making. Expect an evening of radiant choral splendour from one of South London’s most passionate and accomplished amateur choirs.
