About this event

In Renaissance Genoa, firebrand man-of-the-people Simon Boccanegra becomes Doge, winning the power he desires even as he loses the love of his life.

Years later, while his enemies plot against him, he finds his long-lost daughter. Can he heal the wounds of the past before it is too late?

Opera North, which has been presenting its first-ever run of this opera by the master storyteller Giuseppe Verdi, sets out to capture its ferment of love, ambition, regret and reconciliation.

Expect passionate arias, roof-raising choruses and heartrending drama in a concert performance that brings an exciting young cast and the Orchestra of Opera North centre stage, under the baton of Antony Hermus.
