Hear the power of the Royal Festival Hall’s organ unleashed in eclectic music running the gamut from Bach to Errollyn Wallen.
The multiple-award-winning organist Daniel Hyde, who succeeded the late Stephen Cleobury as music director of King’s College, Cambridge, presents an inspiringly wide range of music this this performance.
Beginning with the heartland of the organ repertoire – Bach, the Prelude and Fugue in C – he goes on to display the instrument’s classical purity in Mozart’s Fantasia in F minor.
After this, its capacity for multifarious colour and texture comes to the fore in French music by Debussy, Duruflé and Alain.
There is also a world premiere to enjoy: the first chance to hear a brand-new work for the instrument composed by Errollyn Wallen, the Master of the King’s Musick.
