Boulez adored Debussy’s precise sound worlds as well as his revolutionary musical language. Gigues and Ibéria from Trois images are stunning orchestral portraits of England and Spain.
Boulez’s own Notations started life as piano pieces. He brought them to orchestral life over several years, turning them into vivid explosions of instrumental sound.
And new works from Neuwirth, Arcaro and Agar are inspired by Boulez’s colours, pioneering spirit and boundless imagination.
The LSO celebrates Boulez and Debussy along with three brand new commissions
