Hailed as ‘Mr Bass Trombone’, George Roberts with his truly beautiful sound has been heard on records for over half a century. As a Los Angeles session musician and member of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, his playing can be heard on the records of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald. You can also hear him playing on several motion picture soundtracks including ‘Jaws’ and the music of Henry Mancini.
Richard Jones is a trombonist/composer/arranger based in London and has performed on numerous occasions with the London Jazz Orchestra at Vortex Jazz Club on top of being a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has toured/recorded with a wide range of artists including Slum Village, Abstract Orchestra, Ray Quinn, Joe McElderry and Lesley Garrett. Richard and his band of young, up and coming jazz talent will be paying tribute to George Roberts by performing songs from his solo album ‘Meet Mr Roberts’ and The Great American Songbook.
