Roger Sayer, international concert organist and the organ soloist from the film ‘Interstellar’, will put St John Smith Square’s organ through its paces in this colourful, diverse concert encompassing three centuries, and bookended by the outer movements of Widor’s majestic sixth symphony. The programme is designed to show off the capability of the instrument, and includes a selection of well-loved, dramatic and beautiful repertoire for organ enthusiasts and newcomers alike. There is something for everyone from the delightful charm of Vivaldi and Handel, to the drama of Boëlmann’s Suite Gothique. The music of Reger also features to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth, together with some of Widor’s most virtuosic and thrilling symphonic writing.
