About this event

The Music

Anatoly Liadov has become something of footnote in Russian music, yet his sumptuously orchestrated, impressionistic tone poem The Enchanted Lake is one of the defining works of late Romanticism. Composed 20 years earlier in 1888, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 5 uses some of the composer’s most beautiful music to take us from the darkest depths to life-affirming heights. A new work by Hannah Kendall brings a contemporary note to this soul-enriching concert.

The Performers

The LSO and Sir Antonio Pappano bring their rich experience with Russian music to bear on the two late-Romantic works. Mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron, one of today’s most versatile singers, is sure to dazzle in tonight’s world premiere.
